EHHS Application Process

EHHS is a public school of choice. EHHS offers students a personalized, non-traditional learning environment where students have a voice in determining what and how they learn.

  • Each application will be evaluated to determine whether the EHHS academic program will be a suitable match for the applicant
  • Upon notification of acceptance, registration online with the Bainbridge Island School District will be required for anyone not already currently enrolled with BISD
  • If Eagle Harbor High receives more applications than spaces available, a lottery may be conducted
  • Out of District applicants need to complete the Choice Transfer Request online

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are a school of choice and believe that there is not one model of school that meets all student learning styles. Just as when students look at colleges, some select large universities, and some select small colleges. Students select our programs because they flourish in a small school model of learning.

  • EHHS has a smaller learning environment that allows students and staff to work together to develop an individualized academic program. Students pursue their passions through our independent studies model and a course of study that meets or exceeds the Bainbridge Island School District’s curriculum standards.

  • Our students select EHHS because of our diverse learning opportunities and strong teaching team. We are not the traditionally viewed "alternative school" but a model with academic flexibility and academic options.

  • Yes. Choice schools will ask parents/students if a student has an IEP. The IEP describes the services that are needed to support the student. Not all services are available at all schools within the Bainbridge Island School District. The IEP team, which includes the parents, will make any location or change of service decision. All decisions are made in accordance with federal and state laws, and district procedures.

  • Our students successfully transition into larger schools. Because our program emphasizes the self-directed learner, our students are capable learners in any setting.
