OVERVIEW: Eagle Harbor High School serves students in grades 9 through 12. We are located in Commodore Options School building, at the corner of High School Road and Madison Avenue North. We run on a block bell schedule that matches Bainbridge High School so that we may share classes and school activities. Classes start at 7:45 a.m. (zero period) and end at 3:15 p.m.

SMALL SCHOOL: As a small school, EHHS creates a learning community where every student is an essential part of the school. Through seminar-style classes and independent study advisories, the staff nurtures student growth. The school is committed to remaining small, allowing students and staff an opportunity to know each other over an extended period of time. We encourage parent involvement by supporting their student's individualized program, creating learning opportunities in the community, and serving on school committees.

OPTIONS AND VARIETY: EHHS works to create opportunities for students to learn in a variety of settings. A strong core of classes on the campus is supplemented by outside community partnerships, independent contracts, and access to classes at other schools. We coordinate with Bainbridge High School, West Sound Technical Institute, and Running Start programs at neighboring community colleges.

FLEXIBILITY: Through individualized plans, students have the flexibility to pursue their learning goals. The school offers a continuum of learning models from the classroom to the community, allowing for multiple learning styles and paces. The classes are designed to maximize student participation in project-based learning, with the teacher assuming the role of a "learning coach."

INDEPENDENCE: Classes and contracts are developed to reflect the theme of global sustainability and citizenship. The critical question we ask is "How can we as individuals affect the world to create a more sustainable future?" Core to our school mission is the opportunity to become a self-directed learner. Students design independent contracts to reflect their learning strengths. They need to demonstrate self-management skills, and align their learning to state and district standards. All students with contracts meet weekly with their advisors. The advisor monitors contracts, classes and mentors students on their plans.
