I have taught all grades from kindergarten through eighth grade in the Bay Area, upstate New York, the San Juan Islands, Mercer Island, and Bainbridge Island. Interdisciplinary connectivity, social justice, and project-based learning are central in my classroom. I hold a Master’s degree in Human Development and undergraduate degrees in Sociology and Environmental Studies.
Aside from teaching, the major focus in my life is spending time with my wife, two daughters, and our dog, Lucy. We have been building our house on the island in our spare time; it’s not done yet. My hobbies and interests include travel, cooking, reading, visual arts, cycling, backpacking, boating, and making things. I have traveled to more than 30 countries and around much of the United States, usually seeking art, food, mountains, cultural holy sites, friends, and family.
